The Sculpture Center is seeking a Studio Institute Arts Intern to conduct curatorial responsibilities for its Spotlight exhibition, which will occur in the fall of 2023.

Having recently completed a 5-year strategic plan, The Sculpture Center has refined its offerings to include exhibiting sculpture in a thoughtful contemporary art space, commissioning the creation of work by early career regional artists, including mid-career artists through a Spotlight exhibition, and serving as a platform for civic dialogue and engagement with the community.

Intern Responsibilities: 

  • This fall TSC is opening a new exhibition space and launching it with an exhibition curated by a preeminent, nationally recognized mid-career artist. Curatorial work for the Spotlight fall exhibitions and related programs.

  • Research and communications for the artist.

  • Registration work (loan agreements, condition reports).

  • Corresponding with and working directly with fabricators to install the exhibition.

  • Preparing written marketing and communication materials, such as press releases, website entries, social media, and institutional emails.

Intern Requirements: 

  • The desired candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Self-driven.

  • Willing to take the initiative to contact artists and individuals.

  • Candidate will have familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite programs and have an aptitude for learning computer skills quickly.

  • Strong attention to detail is a must.

Interns will work onsite 28 hours per week and attend a mandatory offsite program day one day per week with their cohort.

Interns must be available for the duration of the program.

INTERNSHIP DURATION:

  • Total Weeks: 9 weeks

  • Work Hours per Week: 28 

  • Total Hours: 252

  • Workdays: 4 days per week onsite

PROGRAM DAY:

  • On the 5th day of each week, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort.

  • These hours are separate from the internship hours.


Before applying, verify you...

  1. Will be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student. You must be a rising Junior or Senior as of June 2023.

  2. Attend a Cleveland college or university—or attend college elsewhere and are a permanent resident of Cleveland or the inner ring suburbs.
