Collections Intern

Intern Responsibilities:

The intern, after attending an overview at DePaul University Art Museum (which has a large Polish poster collection from the 1950’s) would prepare a report as to the organizational state of the PMA collection.  The goal is to meet best practices standards as laid out in the “New Museum Registration Methods”. 

  • The intern would make corrections and integrate any new posters into the collection. 

  • In addition to integrating the collection, the intern would take photo/scans of new additions.     

  • Currently the PMA is open during four days a week, closed on Wednesday. 

  • While we are an ethnic institution, knowledge of Polish is not necessary.

  • Staff are bi-lingual and would help the intern in translating matters.   

Intern Job skills needed.    

  • Basic Computer skills to include e-mail and some form of spreadsheet applications.   

  • Writing skills to write clearly to answer written inquiries and initiate correspondence. 

  • Speaking skills for daily interaction with staff and to prepare the final project briefing. 

  • Photo skills to include photo taking and editing for the project.     

Interns will work onsite 28 hours per week and attend a mandatory offsite program day one day per week with their cohort.

Interns must be available for the duration of the program.

INTERNSHIP DURATION:

  • Total Weeks: 9 weeks

  • Work Hours per Week: 28 

  • Total Hours: 252

  • Workdays: 4 days per week onsite

PROGRAM DAY:

  • On the 5th day of each week, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort.

  • These hours are separate from the internship hours.
