Intern Responsibilities:
The intern will have the opportunity to join a newly created team at the Rubin Museum of Art dedicated to developing digital content for the visiting public.
They will assist in helping the Museum migrate from its current audio tour platform to Bloomberg Connects app, an application used by cultural institutions all over NYC.
The intern will support this major project for their duration with the team as well as have additional time to participate in internal meetings and learn other digital skills that are growing in the museum field and the workforce more broadly.
The Museum has been producing audio tours for the public since 2007 and is looking to offer our audio tours and experiences on the well-regarded Bloomberg Connects application. As the Rubin is looking to expand our reach and create audio tours that can travel to installations around the world, this intern will help the organization achieve goals of deeply satisfying audiences, but also to bring the Rubin to the broader world and making Himalayan Art more accessible on a global scale.
They will be preparing audio file assets, inputting data, writing and working with the team to input copy, cropping images, testing materials, and preparing the new application for launch.
In addition to participating in this exciting project, they will have the opportunity to learn how to update websites, migrate multimedia into new platforms, and participate in team ideation as related to Rubin’s new website to be launched in 2024.
They will leave the internship with new digital skills, the opportunity to work alongside the Head of Digital Content & Strategy and understand the important and essential role digital experience plays in the lives of audiences today.
Qualifications:
This intern will need to have a strong interest in digital media and museums.
They should be detail oriented and love building things from scratch, problem-solving, and curious about learning more.
They should have strong writing skills and an interest in art.
Experience with image-editing, audio editing, and related skills a plus, but not required.
Interns will work onsite 28 hours per week and attend a mandatory offsite program day one day per week with their cohort.
Interns must be available for the duration of the program.
INTERNSHIP DURATION:
Total Weeks: 9 weeks
Work Hours per Week: 28
Total Hours: 252
Workdays: 4 days per week onsite
PROGRAM DAY:
On the 5th day of each week, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort.
These hours are separate from the internship hours.
BEFORE APPLYING, VERIFY YOU:
1) Will be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student. You must be a rising Junior or Senior as of June 2023.
2) Reside or attend college/university in New York.
