School Programs & Marketing Intern

Glass Roots

Please see instructions on how to apply at the bottom of this page.

Intern Responsibilities:

The GlassRoots Arts Intern will work on developing an outreach plan to schools for Fall 2023.

  • This will require research of schools currently served, targeting schools for outreach—and developing a contact list, reviewing other programs in the area for comparison, recommending programming and competitive pricing, producing a marketing plan, and identifying new funding sources (including grant writing).

  • The intern will have the opportunity to assist in our summer youth programs, as well as take some glass art classes.

  • During Covid, schools stopped going on field trips, and GlassRoots engagement with the schools was curtailed. We have been consistently offering in-school residencies, but the interest in field trips has not returned to pre-Covid levels. As well, many of our contacts are no longer working at the schools.

  • So we have a clean slate and are looking to examine our offerings and how we reach out to schools. The Arts Intern will have the opportunity to help shape this new narrative for GlassRoots.

  • We envision this as a full-time summer position, as defined by Studio Institute. The Intern will report to the Executive Director, but also work closely with the Program Manager and our outsourced Marketing team.

GlassRoots is a small nonprofit with a young staff of Teaching Artists. We also have programs for young adults onsite in the early summer. The Arts Intern will fit in with this team. As a small organization, we have an informal culture and everyone has access to all of the senior staff, including the interns. The Arts Intern can expect regular guidance and support from the Executive Director and Senior Management Team. We will establish a weekly check-in meeting for the Intern with their supervisor.
