Bronzeville Historical Society seeks an intern to assist with various collection management tasks. The intern will be exposed to all aspects of working in an African American cultural center and assist the curator with general tasks as well as daily collections access requests.
Intern Responsibilities:
Intern will be exposed to all aspects of working in a historical society.
Intern will assist the Curator with general tasks, including responding to archive inquiries, retrieving digital born resources, and use of Excel to manage collections database.
Meeting, greeting and assisting scholars, artists, collectors, and visitors.
Writing and editing texts for various online content.
Assist at public archive openings and event duties on some weekends are optional.
Assist with Collection finding aids preparation.
The intern are expected to work 4 days a week |Monday through Thursday.
Assistance at Saturday/ Sunday open archives public tours are an option.
Qualifications:
Keen interest in African American history and culture.
Candidates should be motivated, professional, and detail-oriented.
Experience with Microsoft Excel and/or PastPerfect software is a plus.
Interns will work onsite 28 hours per week and attend a mandatory offsite program day one day per week with their cohort.
Interns must be available for the duration of the program.

Work Hours per Week: 28
Total Hours: 252
Workdays: 4 days per week onsite
PROGRAM DAY:
On the 5th day of each week, interns will attend an offsite program day with their cohort.
These hours are separate from the internship hours.
